Specialist advice for difficult street-lighting decisions

Lumino and Valiciti Operations are our main focus, but some problems still need experienced people rather than another piece of software. We continue to undertake selected advisory projects where our industry experience can help authorities make better decisions or manage complex transitions.

Technology & system strategy

We help authorities review central management, asset management and wider lighting-system architecture; understand integration options and dependencies; assess the case for open interfaces; and plan sensible migration paths.

Where controller-gateway integration is part of the discussion, we keep the language practical. Lumino is built to integrate using the publicly available TALQ protocol, which can help separate the management platform from the controller supplier. It is not a guarantee of interchangeability: every integration still needs engineering work, testing and a clear scope.

Procurement & supplier strategy

We support requirements definition, market assessment, evaluation of supplier options and commercial models, and thinking through how to preserve competition and avoid unnecessary lock-in.

This is commercial and technical advice, not formal procurement or legal advice. We stay on the side of helping the authority ask sharper questions and structure a deal that keeps future choice alive.

Operating model & service design

We help authorities decide which activities should remain in-house, which can be automated, and which could sensibly be provided as an operational service. The aim is a model that fits the team, the budget and the risk profile, rather than an off-the-shelf outsource.

This connects naturally with our Valiciti Operations proposition, but we are careful not to turn every advisory conversation into a service pitch. Sometimes the right answer is a clearer internal plan.

Transition, exit & handover

Difficult transitions need practical attention to data, systems, responsibilities, supplier interfaces, handover planning and service continuity. We have worked on legacy CMS and AMS exits, PFI and service-contract transitions, and supplier changes where the real risk is in the detail.

We do not provide legal or regulated financial advice, but we can help structure the technical and operational work so that lawyers and procurement teams have something solid to work from.

Asset, energy & operational improvement

We also take on focused work around asset-data quality, energy and settlement arrangements, reporting, KPIs, workflow and operational efficiency. This tends to be most useful where the problem is specific to street lighting and the people dealing with it need someone who understands the vocabulary.

Focused work, not open-ended consultancy

Most of our advisory work is deliberately short and outcome-focused: a defined question, a clear scope and a practical output that the authority can act on. Where software or an operational service is a better answer than consultancy, we will structure the work around that rather than prolong the advisory engagement.
